“The war is not ending here, and it cannot end here. Whether phases two and three of this deal ever go through is doubtful, in my opinion. Israel will minimize our presence in Gaza but there is no total retreat. There is not and cannot be any version of this war ending with Hamas returning to rule Gaza and rebuild for more repeats of the same horrors in years to come. There must be a total de-Nazification of Gaza so that children don’t pick up Kalashnikovs instead of an Abacus at the age of four.” Hamas signed its own death warrant on 10/7/23. There can be absolutely nothing that can allow them to continue to operate… anywhere… any other solution is simply inviting the next 10/7.. and our hostages coming home in body bags?? Can we send their criminals home in body bags, too? That way they can’t kidnap anyone else? This can only be a temporary pause to get our innocent hostages out. After that, flatten the whole place, salt the earth, deport them to Afghanistan… they support this type of murder and abuse.. start from zero. Annex the whole strip and create Gush Katif 2… there old be no peace with the Nazis and there can be no peace with Hamas.. they must be destroyed, period.

Eve—I think you meant to write “FAKESTINIANS.”

And “Release Them Now” and “Give Them Back” have been my preferred slogans at rallies.

Crazy Israel has to “negotiate” with genocidal psychopaths. This does not bode well for its future.

Those images from Gaza are reminiscent of a party in the streets of Chicago after the Bulls won a championship. Have you ever seen victims of a humanitarian disaster look so well fed and dressed? Those images tell you everything you need to know about the genocidal monsters we’re fighting.

This deal must be done as it’s seemingly the will of the Israeli people, but I’m disturbed by the reports of Trump bullying Netanyahu to make this deal. If there’s a quid pro quo that he’ll let Israel decimate Iran’s nuclear program, ports, and oil production facilities, that would make it easier to swallow.

Let My People Go should have been the slogan.

In the Torah God urges, “Choose life.”

To any normal person that sounds like a no-brainer. Yet Israel’s and the West’s encounter over the past decades with the Islamist death-cult manifested as Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis, Iranian regime, Isis, Taliban, etc. and their Western apologists, proves how critical it is for humanity to always affirmatively choose the morally superior approach of fighting evil (which is death) to prioritize, to preserve life whenever possible.

I like Lee Kern’s perspective that just as the hero California firefighters make themselves vulnerable to save life, as do IDF soldiers, and as did many ordinary members of Israeli society who on Oct 7 ran to confront evil, Israeli society and its supporters are demonstrating a willingness to make themselves emotionally and physically vulnerable for the next 42 days (and possibly beyond) in order to return the hostages and potentially bring some kind of relief to them and their families, so that they can regain some semblance of life.

It will no doubt be a dark and difficult 42 days. As the wise say the only way to get past pain is straight through. But we can’t neglect to savor any moments of grace, joy, beauty, humor, clarity and light that may appear along the way. Thank you again for reliably providing many of them

Awesome article, as always! ❤️ Just letting you know that pic of an antisemitic attack today is in Sydney - not Melbourne.

Ah it was being reported as Melbourne when I saw it on X. Apologies.

We must force them to remain in Gazastan only. I would punish them all for a 5 year minimum ban. No Israeli work, no Israeli medical. Force them to find ways to provide their own water and electricity. They should be isolated. Many countries ban US. We need to ban them. Interacting and work in Israel has provided no changes of their beliefs. We must make them have noone to blame but themselves.

I hear you. 15 months of pain. And now more. There are people celebrating in the streets gleefully exultant but I don’t think they are Jews. Thanks for all the words so beautifully curated and the examination of events so clearly presented-the only highlight in the last 15 months as far as I am concerned.

I wrote several months ago that Bring Them Home was passive and directed at Jewish people. Mistake! Release the hostages or else is the message. Too late. As much as we loathe the strong man / next Pres… the evangelicals had one thing right… he may be a gift from G-d.

I suspect that Bibi made the deal because he had been waiting and waiting for Trump to ride in on his white horse and save him, and Trump made it clear he's nobody's savior. Bibi had one arm twisted by Biden and the other by Trump and he decided he might as well just get whatever hostages back he can, nothing to be gained by waiting further, and with Hamas's inevitable breaking of the peace before stage two, the war will recommence.

As to the US being an ally. Biden was very much a fair-weather "friend". He engineered a stalemate from the get-go, not understanding that a stalemate with an enemy that wants every one of you dead guarantees future carnage. That said, Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff has deep financial ties to Qatar (https://www.jewishpress.com/news/middle-east/qatar/trumps-envoy-who-squeezed-netanyahu-for-hamas-concessions-involved-in-qatari-business/2025/01/15/) and can hardly be called an ally to Israel. Trump has a long history of throwing his supporters under buses, and he is famously vindictive. He was more than irked that 78% of American Jewry did not vote for him, just as he has not forgiven Bibi for agreeing that Biden won the last election. I think this deal is payback. Biden was not an ally, and Trump is not an ally. We need to get it through our heads, the US does not have the best interest of Israel in mind. Israel does not have any true allies, and we in the Diaspora are once again scarcely tolerated.

I am reminded of the Book of Isaiah: "The refuge with Pharaoh shall result in your shame; the shelter under Egypt's protection, in your chagrin...They shall all come to shame because of a people that does not avail them, that is of no help or avail, but brings only chagrin and disgrace....For the help of Egypt shall be vain and empty."

Biden's "don't's" were empty threats. An empty threat does not make a country respected.

Trump makes peace by appeasing. Give the enemy what they want and war will end immediately. Watch how he will sell out the Ukraine. Watch how he will sell out Taiwan. You think Israel will be any different? Trump only cares about Trump. He talks tough but he doesn't follow through. Trump wants the money to flow, to his cronies in general but more importantly to him personally, from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, whoever's paying, and he will do whatever it takes to ensure that.

My only consolation is that Biden's jerking Israel around led to a general strategy of Israel becoming self sufficient. The munitions deal with the Israeli company Eibit (https://www.ynetnews.com/article/hkumeq98ye#autoplay) made me happy. I want to see Israel become more and more self-sufficient, because its "friends" are more than halfway enemies.

No country on earth would be expected to exchange hundreds if not a thousand serial killers, murderers and rapists for innocent hostages. So much for our friends.

As I watch Europe and Canada become overrun by jihadi hoards, I think of the Mongols. I think the only reason one country or another is respected or even admired is because it is feared.

A country that talks tough but appeases is not feared. US has truly become the Biblical Egypt.

As the Mongol I mean jihadi hoard pours all over the west, it's like the light is going out everywhere, it's all going evil, and the west appeases, appeases, at first for decency, and then out of fear. The Bible talks about a showdown when all the world comes after Israel but Israel wins. Only because over and over, the Jewish people have survived against all odds, I have faith in the pit of my stomach that this scenario in the Bible is coming true now. My brain doesn't believe it but my guts do.

I also changed my mind from Bring Them Home to Let Our People Go almost immediately. Before the massacre I saw the daily protests against the government in Israel by the confused people as a predecessor of “something” bad. Empires, countries, large and small, always failed from within. Israel (Jews) became again the “canary in the coal mines”. The indoctrination of the west by Marxist ideology was slow and followed the textbook as described by Yuri Bezmenov, KGB defector,

Can President Trump reverse the pendulum? The American voters chose him to do it. Even before his administration officially starts, we are seeing positive indicators. I keep reminding myself that we are entering the “fog of war” and not everything is visible, including the awful deal at hand. As in the song Views by Noga Erez, “We (Jews) don't like to lose to anybody”!
