I signed the petition immediately, before even finishing your incredible words, and for once, when signing any petition, used my real last name (I usually don't want any of these things having my first and last name), which is undeniably Jewish.
Another first class post, Eve. Smashes straight through and demolishes all the world's spectacular double standards and duplicity. And the hypocrisy. To rather clumsily paraphrase from the book of Esther in Bible, perhaps you were born and gifted for such a time as this. Keep at it. You are a good example for others who would protest the outrages of October 7 in their corner to follow. Courage begets courage, and the facts, sound reasoning you bring to us gives me extra ammo when in discussion with those around me. What completely flummoxes me is how closed people can be to sound argument and how easily they buy into the most far out crazy theories. That's a stronghold that is pretty hard to break through because the people are completely cemented in in their thinking.
We have to matter to each other, we are all we have. Our Jewish mothers, sisters, aunts, cousins and daughters have to know that we can only count on each other. We are our only advocates. Our Jewish MEN need to say something and stand with us. I am begging all Jews now to stop counting on ally-ship from non-jews. We are stronger than they can imagine and we WILL survive. Am Yisrael Chai.
While I agree with everything you wrote, I take exception to the term “ally-ship.” This word is connected to ideologies that are deeply inhospitable to Jewish people. Jews have traditionally thought themselves “allies” to all the major social justice causes. The reverse simply does not apply and I’m loathe to use terminology claimed by social justice warriors. Can we find something new? Is “supporters” or “friends” sufficient?
As a photographer who "covers" protests on both sides of the current crisis: one side is full of destructive rage, and the other presents a cool--almost placid--melancholy. The contrast couldn't be more pronounced. This column makes that disparity even more puzzling. Something is going on here that is so deep and so ancient that it beggars belief.

I think we need to switch strategy . Instead of posters of people kidnapped , we should put up posters saying “Rape is not Resistance” with images of the woman being paraded in Gaza (face blocked out) with blood . It is graphic but truth needs to be told and then let’s see if woman rip em down
This is kind of tangential, but I’ve had issues with social justice people since college. I remember about fifteen years ago there was a horrible murder in my town where a stepfather murdered an eight-year-old boy and the mother helped him cover it up. The stepfather was very abusive and there was coercive control and other stuff going on there.
I was at a party, and I made the mistake of mentioning this case when the trial was going on. Two of my friends who were in social justice-type careers publicly lectured me in front of the whole party for at least an hour about how the parents didn’t murder the kid. Society killed him because the parents were poor, and society is evil to poor people, and now the media was smearing them for being poor and making it even worse. The justice system was unjustly trying them (they both got life, btw).
My friends basically erased the abuse and the murder because everything was society’s fault. Those things were not as important as how society treats poor people, and I was a terrible person for perpetuating the ills of society.
I’ll let you guess what those people are promoting right now.
I just want to say you are an amazing and very articulate writer, and I greatly appreciate you clearly stating what you have been observing surrounding the hypocrisy of so many "human rights", "feminist", and "humanitarian" organizations. So many bloody antisemitic views are espoused from these organizations, many of which are cloaked under the guise of "eradicating all forms of hate, racism, and discrimination". I am thoroughly disgusted with how many of our democratic western institutions and ideals, including those within my own government (🇨🇦), have been bought and placated by Islamic philosophy and theology.
