Yes it sure was lovely when we were all just friends. Now most have abandoned me, as I am a crazy Zionist that is OK with dead Palestinian babies. But ya know what, fuck em if that’s who they think I am. Like the old saying goes “with friends like that, who needs enemies” I’m done explaining who I am and why I support Israel. The fact I even have to explain this to my friends, I mean WTF? I’m exhausted. 🎗️

What do you expect from Ireland? They continued trade with the Nazis both before and during WW2. No problem boycotting and vilifying Israel.

I absolutely hate that you lost your career because people hate us. You’re such a brilliant writer, such a succinct voice, but no, you’re a Jewess, so fuck off. This is why I subscribe. You deserve a career.

Great column. Unfortunately, what we are watching is just not Glastonbury but the death of the UK as we know it. On all fronts, it is a society that is dying - economically, politically, and now culturally. The wealthy are fleeing, London is marked by crime and a lack of policing, and it seems the solution is tolerate hate speech as long as it is directed at Jews. It's funny I was at a conference last year in London and was on a panel. I said if one were an optimist as investor, one went long Argentina, which was embracing capitalism and by the way, is very proIsrael. The other side of the trade was going short the UK, which turning very left wing, and now where antisemitism is embraced by the elites. Sadly, the UK is not even at rock bottom.

We visited London in 2019. I was shocked at how different it was since my first visit in 1996. The entire city felt demoralized. I remember going on a walking tour of Old Westminster, passing the Houses of Parliament, and listening to the guide talk about Winston Churchill. It was as if he was describing an ancient civilization that had long vanished. I sure didn’t see any sign of the country that endured the Blitz, kept calm and carried on.

My UKian travel was in the '90s bit nervous but the upper lip was still pretty stiff. Seemed that there would Always Be An England. Now? An exercise for the student. Not sure that I want to go back.

None of this makes sense - the mass adoption of Rage Against The Zionists as a cause, the unexpected allies (Azalea Banks?), your expulsion from the ranks of paid rock critics. I wonder if this is what my ancestors thought as they were fleeing the pogroms in Ukraine - “this is crazy; why did our neighbors turn against us?”

Only made it to Glastonbury once - '94, while i was in college. great, hazy memories ... the standouts for me were Johnny Cash (who cured me of my breakup blues with 2 songs) and Elvis Costello. Should have been Oasis and Radiohead as both were just breaking out - still regret missing those ones. Speaking of Elvis Costello, I used to love his stuff, but then threw out all his CDs in anger when he cancelled his Israel concert in 2010 due to whatever bs. Haven't listened to him in 15 years and REALLY miss it. However, seems like he has at least kept his mouth shut about Gaza over the last 2 years. Eve, is that enough justification to allow myself to listen to him again? How do you decide who to shut out of your musical life and when (if ever) to let them back in?

Thanks for the update on Elvis Costello. I saw him eons ago, and didn’t know about him cancelling his show in Israel. I don’t want to listen to his old stuff, actually it was his drummer I liked, anyway. The ‘dummies’ who spurned Eve robbed their readership of a TALENT. A WOMAN, A JEW, but they can’t SILENCE HER!! 💥🇮🇱❤️🎶

The line of demarcation was around 2010 with the breakout of social media. I miss the days of long form music articles, print magazines, GOOD television shows, anticipating the release of an entire album or a concert series without politics.

Since then, SM wrought a steady diet of shit churning at light speed. Low quality reality tv gave way to rapid fire social media clips without proper context. I have a subscription to Walter Kirn’s paper County Highway and love the long articles and reading an actual paper. We think paper is dead but it’s not.

Eve could start a phenomenal music magazine.

Another blowtorch of truth that rides on your passion for music.

I found myself wondering whether the United States could ban imports from any country that bans imports from Israel.

I was an early Free Press fan and subscriber and for the life of me I cannot understand why from the get-go they did not grab you and offer whatever you demanded to be their culture editor/writer/reviewer. Nepotism reigns I guess. And just because Nellie Bowles can be funny and brilliant while being snarky doesn’t mean everyone else there needs to copy her style. It’s getting tiresome

I agree. It’s getting a little monotonous over there. The last few articles I read were almost insufferable. I love their coverage of Israel but the culture pieces are getting awful. I do wish they’d hire Eve but she may be too independent for them. I like knowing we can support her directly.

Dear Eve, so sorry you had your love of writing about music taken away, but as we can all see here your shining star hasn’t been diminished. I understand your Blacklisted although means so much to so many, doesn’t match the thrilling times of when you were at the helm of the music mags and scene. 🇮🇱❤️🥰

My hope is that, just as I came for the Jewish & Zionist activism and then had my mind sometimes blown by the music/culture and other-cause activism (learning a lot), others will be attracted by the types of culture and music analysis that just cannot be found elsewhere today, and then maybe stay and learn something from your insights and reporting on other topics

This was posted by a guy who usually makes me screamingly angry, M.A. Rothman:

“The outspoken rapper [Azealia Banks] announced she will no longer perform at Boomtown and Maiden Voyage, both scheduled for August, alleging that promoters pressured her to publicly say “Free Palestine” or risk being dropped from the lineup.

“So guys, I am cancelling Boomtown and Maiden Voyage,” she tweeted earlier this week. “The promoters have been stressing me out for weeks trying to force me to say free Palestine and threatening to cut me from the bill because I won’t say free Palestine and I’m not dealing with the threats and I’m not putting on a f###### hijab.”

Looks like Bob Vylan won’t be welcome in America for his tour. Thank God we still have some sanity running things at State. Thank Marco Rubio for tearing up. Their Visa. Fucking freaks. It’s so sick over there. My. Wife is a brit and I told her I am never going back. I used to love it there but I will not come back until the revolution. I will happily join it when it happens. Praying it’s not too late. Ireland can fuck off. No use for them ever again. And sadly Scotland has become an African colony. So sad but I swear I talk to friends in London and they are clueless. Living in their own world as London is Burning. How many Muslim Mayors in England? The numbers are staggering. What happened to that stiff upper lip. God I hope there is some fight left. It’s close to the end. And honestly America isn’t coming for this shit. We have our own Islamic cosplay fire to put out. We could lose New York.

A world gone mad.
