Eve, I’ve told you before and I’ll tell you again. I admire your courage, forthrightness, and strength. I consider myself a strong Zionist Jew, but to do what you do and be able to see and watch what you watch in order to inform us .

Shows your great strength and commitment. Thank you beyond words

What depressing, dangerous times we live in.

I’m a Christian (Catholic) with some German Jewish ancestry and my dad fought in WWII. This woman - I don’t know how you kept calm. This is one reason we got a Peloton. I don’t talk to that many people and I don’t miss it. But I would talk with you! I love your humor.

I wish I could remember the name of this book I read years ago, but it was about how modern humans have seemed to have lost their ability to recognize real danger when it presents itself. I often think about that book these days. It opens with a description of beachside resorts in Thailand hours before the 2004 tsunami hit, and depicts all of the western tourists gathered on the beaches with their video cameras recording the bizarre sight of the tide having receded to some outrageously abnormal degree. Meanwhile the indigenous population, the birds, the animals, had long before made for higher ground having all read the signs that something awful was about to happen. Which is why those populations suffered such few losses when the tsunami hit while all the western tourists and people who had lost their instincts to recognize approaching danger didn’t realize what was happening until it was too late. I don’t know how far the tide needs to recede, how low the barometric pressure must drop, or how many stories the NYT has to print humanizing radical jihadis before America wakes TF up, but it does not bode well for the survival of western society.

Great analogy, Jonathan.

Brilliant as usual. I had the unfortunate same rude awakening this week. It feels like Oct. 8 all over again. My (now former) best friend of over 50 years thought the attempted mass murder of over 100 preschoolers was a good occasion to lecture me publicly on Facebook about the evils of Benjamin Netanyahu. Do tell. So no, if your first impulse is to rationalize the terrorist’s motives then you are lost, you are a zombie or an orc and there is no further discussion to be had, you have become a monster.

Another flaming blowtorch of crystalline truth. Thank you, Eve.

This all makes my stomach hurt. I'll be 74 in a month, and I have five grandchildren. We all live in the suburbs of Chicago. My sons and their wives all lean moderate to conservative. I am deathly afraid that, 1. Their kids will go off to college and get brainwashed into believing this Leftist bullshit, and/or 2. The Democratic party will once again control the government, and mostly, 3. That no one in the US or Europe will have the political will to stop this vile and insane slide the Western world is making into absolute shit.

I don't usually swear a lot and certainly not on a public forum but I have to say when I finished reading this my first thought was "Fucking Brilliant."

I don't know how you do it but your writing is succinct and spot on. You say everything I am thinking but so much more eloquently. Thank you.

This is all down to MSM which characterises two political stances only.....the 'Progressive' (was there ever a greater misnomer?) left and the 'Far right" .And the world believes what they read and listen to.J ust what do journalists do nowadays to educate themselves? Certainly do not read history books nor do their research properly. AI will make it worse. Thanks for another great article Eve.

The anger towards Trump has become a bonding moment for these white libs. I miss the days when we would commiserate over weather.

When I get super down or terrified for Jews (and Christians) I have to remind myself to trust in Hashem. Bitachon.

Eve as a long time reader from Canada I applaud everything you do. I have many Jewish friends mainly Liberal or Democrats who would vote for Hitler if he ran on the Democratic ticket. They all suffer from TDS. My question is how would you recommend approaching them to educate them on this matter. Can it be done without losing long term friends or alienating them forever? Sadly I know you have experienced this.

Eve Barlow's avatar

No it can’t be done. They’re done.

To your comment referencing Hitler-I told a Pro Pali cousin who was against Israel’s action in Gaza because Gazan children would likely die that by her reasoning-I guess we would NOT have fought in WWll and Nazis would still be roaming the world. Shame on her that her own father (my uncle) fought and was injured in Europe in WWll. Sadly-this cousin became just another leaf on the ancestral tree. I agree with Eve. It can’t be done. They’re done.

Fellow Canadian here. MP. I've tried as well. It's practically pointless. I'm not giving up though. Not only because I've always been a Zionist but especially for the sake of my 1/4 Jewish grandchildren. As I told my daughter, (who hates Trump, thinks Carney's just great and votes left of center) the Nazis didn't care if you were a practicing or non practicing Jew. They didn't care if your Jewish last name came from your Jewish grandfather. They didn't care if you were Christian and were defending your Jewish neighbours. My American relatives vote exclusively Democrat and backed the Palestinians to the hilt. Debating the issues with them is infuriating, it feels like beating my head against the wall. You get gaslit with bullshittery and when you react with facts get accused of overreacting. Even my elderly father, (who should know better!) parrots the anti Trump talking points like an automaton because that's all he ever hears on Canadian news. Thank goodness for Eve's clarion call. If only those who need to hear her message were paying attention we might be seeing the light at the end of this nightmarish tunnel.

The problem is people who mindlessly cling to a political party as if it's their God and the most important thing of their entire existence to where they will run over their own children's future for "The Party," and it's not just down to TDS. I'm 65 and I've watched adults participate in this never-ending middle school clique. Neither major party has ever had a lock on good government, and I voted mostly 50/50 my entire voting life until 10 years ago when I registered R. I will never again vote for a democrat but will also not mindlessly cling to the R and will drop them in a heartbeat if they decide to follow the dems and be a party of rabid fascists. The dems have nothing. They've brought has back to hunting Jews, telling women to shut up and look at a man's dick when he sticks it in our faces, they threaten parents as the dem freaks corner children to play Mengele, destroyed K-12 and higher ed, they've purposefully destroyed our social safety net by sending $ down a black hole that never stops eating, and demoralized the middle class and those trying to make it to the middle class. The only thing they have left is abortion, and they don't really want it legalized as then they would lose their primary war call. They could have passed a federal law during Obama, but they didn't and they never will if they get another chance.

I might be a Fetterman Democrat. A Democrat who thinks that Rama is about the most hideous female I have ever seen. Look like a cockroach....

Eve Barlow's avatar

If only Fetterman was the rule and not the exception, we would be in such a sane place.

Alison Bull's avatar

They will oust Fetterman when they can. He’s the only normal one.

None of the democrats condemned Mamdani’s wife because they all wrapped their arms around him when he was running. Schumer especially. He, Warren, Sanders and the rest of the dinosaurs would rather hang onto their jobs than keep terrorists out of their party.

That lovely woman next to you in spin won’t stop at wishing Trump dead. Soon it’ll be everyone who voted for him, if she’s not there already.

Listen to this podcast if you get a chance. Lindsay talks about how we got to this nightmare:

I feel about the Dems exactly how I felt about Labour in the UK ten years ago. Never trust them ever again. The UK foreshadowed America and still the Jews of America were too arrogant to listen to their British cousins.

Alison Bull's avatar

I will never vote for them again.

Eve Barlow's avatar

Bookmark this for later; the DSA will run a progressive against Fetterman and he will become an independent.

Alison Bull's avatar

I believe it. Question is will Josh Shapiro support that.

When Eve's latest arrives in my inbox, it's immediate reading. Insight, analysis, humor (gallows) along with some obscure song/band reference (for me) that always exposes me to something new. But even with all the antizionism and antisemitism (redundant as so many have pointed out), along with daily terrorism, I remain optimistic and truly believe we as Jews and our courageous supporters are living in the best of times despite the rampant hate and mindless idiocy of so many. Low information voters keep digging. Here's the reasons for my positive outlook.

1. The Iranian regime is crumbling day by day. Their people are providing coordinates for one way drone strikes on Basij checkpoints in Tehran. This is the prelude to enabling new demonstration. Keep in mind that there are 90 million Iranians yearning to be free and will be joining the Abraham Accords sometime this year. Followed or concurrently by Saudi Arabia, and even Qatar.

2. Despite the insane current government reactions from UK, Spain, Ireland and France, change is coming regardless of native and alien Muslim pressure. BTW, checkout UK policies in progress on banning dog breeds (even Corgies) and requirements that every UK public bus have a deep wound kit on hand. No explanation why....

3. Just about every country in the Western Hemisphere has moved to the right and desire their MAGA movement along with establishing relations with Israel. Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Chile, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Honduras, Columbia, Panama, and soon Venezuela and Cuba. Brazil will move right in their next election too.

4. Israel just signed a dozen accords with India, the world's largest democracy. Has strong ties with Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan too.

5. The US - Israel alliance has never been stronger. And although a little less than half the country supported Kamala, the next presidential election whoever the Republican candidates are will prevail. Despite what might happen in the mid-terms

6. Israel's relationship with numerous African countries is at an all time high. Check out the many Eurovision podcasters from around the continent to get a sense of their feelings toward Israel. This is the fastest growing region in the world.

7. Although many EU countries and UK are going wobbly, not Germany, Hungary, Czech Republic, Greece, Italy, and Cyprus. Apologies if I left any nation out.

There is a golden age coming and it's been birthed by two significant historical figures - Bibi and Donald. You don't have to like them but not to acknowledge their joint impacts is evidence of willful ignorance.
