This is phenomenal and to the point. To so many points it’s dizzying.

Eve, your writing hit me in the gut and completely stopped my breathing until I could finish it. I am a loyal subscriber. This is one of your best articles. Not that the others aren’t wonderful, but this one is another gut wrenching one.

As a retired detective, I was always amazed at how politics and the fear of a riot overshadowed the civil task of bringing a painfully obvious guilty man to justice. I have no doubt that OJ Simpson killed Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman. I also believe everyone else knew he was guilty, too. The fact he was guilty was obviously secondary to the real agenda of the activists and politicos living in Los Angeles in 1994. After the Rodney King riots of 1991, the people of Los Angeles were happy to sacrifice Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman in the name of security and peaceful streets. What is sad is that certain people think that OJ getting off (being acquitted), whether he was guilty or not, is a good thing. They think OJ managed to beat the racist system of justice in California and that it was a victory for the long-suffering non-white residents of that oppressive state. The reality is that California is the Mecca for the liberal-minded, left-leaning (basically socialist) people living in the union, with Oregon and Washington looking on in envy. What really happened in California in 1994 was that mob rule won out over the law, and once this happened, it set the stage for what we see happen today over and over every time the mob doesn't like what the justice system does to one of their peeps, even when they are also painfully obviously guilty.

I remember how upset I was at the verdict. Thanks for calling out the media and connecting these two vicious tropes.

What a powerful voice you are, Eve. Perfect aimed gut-punches. Thanks also for the link to the Dworkin piece, which I'd never read. The next time someone asks, "Why didn't she leave?" I'll send them this. Shabbat shalom to all.

Excellent post, hits so many balls out of the park. I've read other posts similar to yours though not as powerful, and few see fit to mention Ron Goldman. Why? He was just a young Jewish guy in the wrong place at the wrong time. He is a footnote to most, but you have vision wide enough to see the misogyny yet also see fit to mention Ron Goldman, in the wrong place at the wrong time and probably trying to help.

Well said, Eve. I watched that pseudo trial & could not believe that community’s jubilation. What exactly did they win? Derision.

I remember watching the verdict and being so upset. Your insights and comparisons are brilliant and so accurate. Rape denier = terrorist/murderer denier. He should rest in hell.

Sorry that it's taking me a minute to respond to this but I was living in LA and working in Beverly hills at what would be the future headquarters of Spago Beverly hills when the bronco was going by on interstate 10 and how I could hear the sirens as well. A week later I roll by with my friend Terry my motorcycle, (you know the one) by 875 Bundy where Nicole and her kids used to live and Terry and I were in a complete State of shock to see parents pointing out to their kids at the scene of the murders like it was some sort of Monterey Aquarium exhibit. It was a time when I was still living in that area that I'll never forget...
