I have read Deborah Lipstadt’s book “History on Trial: My day in court with a holocaust denier”. In this book Lipstadt outlines her legal team’s efforts to empirically prove the holocaust. I thought “how many other groups are expected to empirically prove their history?” And now we are, yet again, having to “prove” reality to those who claim they should be the arbiters of our lives, our legacy, our suffering.
Your writing serves to demonstrate both that empirical truth, that some insist on, and the moral truth, that they close their eyes to see. Thank you for your wisdom, compassion, and strength.

Can I be obtuse and hope that the ICJ chose to take the case so that Israel could do just what it has done, put forth a case for Israel and its response to Hamas? I am not a “there must be a pony here somewhere” woman, I’m much more likely to stare at the piles of shit and be enraged.
However, I am beyond thankful that this case is at the ICJ. Israel and her team of lawyers had the opportunity to display in full color the bullshit that has been hurled at her/Zionists/Jews since long before 7 October. While I have no delusions that this will silence the hoi polloi, it will give our repudiation a gravitas and validity that people currently dismiss as opinion.
May our hostages be returned today and the name Hamas be drowned out by all the TT noisemakers.
