Happy Birthday! You can look back with pride at the year you had. I am not surprised but deeply troubled that trauma therapists have turned their backs on Israeli victims. I know they are not required to take every case that is presented to them but ethically and morally to refuse to aid victims of such horror makes me question their value as professionals and perhaps humans. Are we spiraling downward that far as a civilization that our “ helping” professions have no conscience?

With the likes of self-hating Jews like Gabor Mate at the helm of the work, it’s no surprise. They hate Israel.

Máté is not just a self hating Jew, he is a very damaged human being. His own abandonment issues skews his views of everything and has caused his theories to be questionable because he has not dealt with his own serious issues.

Many years ago it began in Facebook writer groups. Aunt Lydias determining who was speaking out of turn, or appropriating, or “not staying in their lane” if a white woman wrote about body shame because black bodies have been “more shamed” or something like that. It quickly became a parody in which feminism (this group was for women writers) became performative chastising and hatred. At that time, experts called it “call out culture.” It reached a point of total insanity and had such a chilling effect on discourse (not to mention reducing logic to rubble) that the group could not perform its stated goal: women helping women to find writing jobs. I was harassed for months by members of these groups for defending a South Asian woman who was bullied for a comment she made about being a POC. She was told she was out of her lane, because she did not suffer oppression the way other ethnicities and nationalities did. She ended up attempting suicide. This conversation about how so-called “feminist spaces” have become The Upside Down is long overdue!

Agreed. I should have thrown in the towel on so-called "intersectional feminism" after the Women's March, but the final straw for me came in a purported feminist group I had been part of for a long time. A woman expressed that she didn't feel safe that she could dress how she wanted, which was met by "educational" replies about sexual assault having nothing to do with dress, which then quickly devolved into shaming the woman for bringing this topic up at all. Within the same thread, a transwoman replied that she also didn't feel safe dressing how she wanted and what a disappointment that was for her after transitioning - and the SAME folks who felt the need to educate the first woman, had nothing but supportive hugs and "you're so brave!" and "it's so unfair that you can't dress how you feel!" And I think it was in that moment when I realized that intersectional feminism is just like the lipstick feminism of my generation - just some patriarchal dick-worshipping cosplay wrapped up in cutesy consumerism. Get that Target "Girl Power" t-shirt and wear it with your keffiyah, girls! Camp out for sex traffickers, but don't jeopardize your college degree for abortion rights!

Awful. I’ve never been involved with such groups. Looks like that was the right choice.

Congratulations on seeing the calendar turn once more for you. Your new jacket is beautiful and you look fantastic in it. Your article was no doubt depressing but vital and important. It is absolutely shocking the deafening silence. We must choose who we make this journey with even more carefully now.

This story about Shirel is heartbreaking. May she be written in the book of life. I hope others with PTSD get the help they need. 🙏

Happy birthday! There is so much good here it’s hard to comment on one thing. But this sentence struck me because it was my experience in the public school setting, “The women who claim to be leaders in the space themselves use perpetrator tactics to bully others out of spaces, to eke out perceived fellow competition for personal gain and promotion, and to usurp power.” Why is this happening in women dominated spaces and how do we stop it?
