Hello. I was going to call this Substack / blog / whatever, Broke & Blacklisted, but I decided against it, because I come from a pre Gen Z era in which even when you're really one thing you pretend you're something else. Also, I don't want my current financial crisis to define what happens here. Tonight as I sit here on my tan leather couch in my boxer briefs eating Bran Flakes and almond milk for dinner, surrounded by church candles and the sound of Meat Loaf's “I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)” (RIP), I'm contemplating how it might be that I'm in the same place I was pretty much 15 years ago (except Meat Loaf was still alive and I was definitely not listening to him). Fifteen years ago I was really depressed, sitting on the porch of my parents' house in Glasgow day in day out, after three years of reckless liberation, wondering why I felt so powerless to control my destiny. I contemplated a short memoir called “The Cereal Years” about being rudderless and in my twenties and only getting pleasure and/or sustenance from eating dry Special K out of a box.
Never parted with money for a subscription as quickly. I, too, have those stories about the music world, especially in Israel where I made it my mission to help push the indie music scene which brought me nights with some of the best known Israeli and international musicians. Besides that, thank you for all you do. It’s a privilege to support you at this time.
Thank you for your tireless and relentless pursuit of justice and peace for all. Our community stands with you and your voice of clarity. There are some that are willing to sacrifice themselves for the greater good and you are a true mensch. 🙏🏼✡️🇮🇱
I’ve been following from afar but with great attention. I’ve only recently begun to use my voice thanks to you and others like you. I’m more than happy to support you as you continue to fight harder and louder than most. Thank you.
Maybe this is the venue where you begin your most important work, Eve, against a much bigger, much uglier foe than the ones you encountered in the music industry. Anti-semitism is one of the really big uglies. Misunderstanding, misinformation and misconception are among its accomplices. Those tend to be entrenched and have to be fought using words, and correct information. This'll be a battleground where all your legal training and the naus and instincts you've acquired from your earlier career will be your weapons and your armour. People hate the folks who identify the darkness in the human spirit and call them out on it, but never was it so important to have courageous voices pipe up about wrong. Buoy of light in the muck soup and poisonous fumes through which we're navigating. Looking forward to reading more!
You are appreciated and loved for what you do. When I can’t express my feelings about what’s going on in the world, all I need to do is read your posts. Keep up the great work and don’t be shy about asking for help. Those who care always will!
I subscribed as fast as I could! Here's to you, Eve. Your beautiful writing, your strength and your courage. Thank you for all that you do. Please take good care of yourself.... (yes, I know you've already got one Jewish mother!).
I’ve never hit the subscribe button so quickly. Excited to read!

I’ve been following you on Twitter for a while your words are the spark that lights the fire that fuels the fight. And it is a never ending fight.
You are not alone and thank you.
A pleasure to support you, my support comes with immense gratitude and admiration.
