Oh Eve! You are so brave and so right and I’m so scared and exhausted! We Jews in the diaspora and in Israel are in a no win situation. We will always be hated. If we do not destroy Hamas and win militarily and save Israel we have no future. If we lose we will forever be branded as murderers and colonizers. To paraphrase Golda I’d rather be called names than be dead. But in the diaspora we need a better PR campaign. We can no longer be the world’s target. Knowing that we are is the first step. But using our brains and our resources to support ourselves may be the way to go. There is a move in the black community to support black owned businesses. Do we owe ourselves any less. Support ourselves and boycott antisemites.

Just remember that thereare many who stand with us, not the GOVT but the ordinary everyday American

They may not know what to say or how to say it and they get there but ultimately it is in our hands to protect ourselves & Israel

My father, a survivor, & my mother, who survived the blitz, would never have thought it would escelate to this level but they knew that mobs were easy to put together, mobs of a certain type of persons - insecure, jealous, violent,

limited cognitive map

They have nothing in their lives to help clean that lake

Its easy to pull down or deface posters to get that

*I am a brave person* but they are not

We are the brave

The magnificent Blake Flayton indeed! If I may be allowed to suggest a few projections:

The Jews we locked in the library make us feel unsafe.

Students! CHEAP flights to FREE Palestine. One-way.

"Keep my name out of your mouth." George Washington

"I know it wasn't rape-rape [infanticide-infanticide, decapitation-decapitation, torture-torture, genocide-genocide]. It was something else but I don't believe it was rape-rape [infanticide-infanticide, decapitation-decapitation, torture-torture, genocide-genocide]." W. Goldberg

My heart breaks for you, Israel, and the world as we are forced to face the evil of Hamas and their supporters. The tragedy of the massacre has revealed the hate and moral rot embraced by so many, so many who profess inclusion and acceptance to mask their true purpose. You cannot protect yourself from what you cannot see. Now we know the terrorists who live and walk among us. They must be confronted and held to account. The lies and manipulation of BLM is a good example of the truth being revealed, their mask/lie of inclusion has been ripped off. All of us who despise terrorism and evil are now Jewish regardless of our religion. We will not forget and we will fight against this evil. You are not alone, Eve. Your eloquence and insight are your weapons in this fight…keep it up.

A while back you talked about DARVO. It’s a critical part of the playbook. I don’t think most people are aware of it.

I have been reading about (Jewish) donors to elite universities pulling their money owing to rabid and uncontrolled antisemitism. What are they doing with those pledges? Are they redirecting to Jewish causes? To help Israel? Eight million gone from Harvard’s books is a pittance. Eight million to to defend and protect Jews can make a difference. (Though no name goes on a building.)

Pro Israel guys Bloomberg and Larry Ellison are worth 150 billion combined... and old. If they have not donated at least 1 billion each at this time of crisis they should be ashamed of themselves.

Eve, we live in what was, in my youth, called Bizzaro (Superman comics) where good is bad, bad is good, ugly is beautiful…

What progressive Jews are sadly learning is that while we have always been at the forefront of social justice (we are with you!) - we were never actually part of the communities. We have always been the “other”. Useful, but “other”. Those we thought were sisters and brothers are clearly saying AMFYOYO.

I woke up to this one. Easier then trying to sleep but still haunting. I am waiting for a cavalry that isn’t showing up. I’m the cavalry now. Strapped and ready.

Thanks Eve.

The private school my kids went to and where I served as Board Chair had a zero tolerance policy for hate speech of any kind. A student was expelled for posting a video imitating a comedian who was mocking an ethnic group (not Jewish). Many years ago, two teachers who promulgated their pro-Palestinian/anti-Israel views were no longer welcome to teach there.

My question about the Universities and public schools is, legally, are they allowed to have similar zero tolerance policies. Or, since they all get some federal funding are they bound by constitutional limits on infringing on free speech?

Appreciate how each day you write with clarity of mission and purpose. For centuries folks who hate Jews have found "reasons" why they hate Jews, saying their hatred is justified by the various provocations of Jews. These so called provocations are non existent fabrications or exaggerations, intended to mask their real purpose. The cowards and hard hearted miscreants who tear down or deface posters of kidnapped Israeli children are in a sense the same as Holocaust deniers. They attempt to erase the truth because beneath it all, the posters remind them and the world it is Jews who are oppressed and victims.

I am frightened of the inertia setting in. I’m both directions. The steady velocity of antisemitism, as though it were a pack of zombies marching over every hill, and my own inertia, frozen, sitting here not knowing which direction to turn or where to start. Everywhere in New York posters are torn. It induces a physical reaction of nausea crossed with inner wailing. It’s so repugnant and racist it leaves any decent person breathless.

It's certainly be very sobering to walk around and look at other people and realize that a good number of them--maybe even a majority--would gladly beat the sh-t out of me, if not try to kill me, because I am Jewish.

My late mother was a Nazi refugee, and she used to often say that the anti-Semites would try again to kill us all. Growing up in North America, I never took her words that seriously.

I do now.

She was right. But you’re not alone. There are good people who stand with the Jewish community of the world. Silence is the enemy. I’m working on that !

Okay friends I just submitted my article to my publisher. It’s called, “I stand with the Jewish people. No ‘Yes, but...”. If he doesn’t publish it I’ll put it on my own substack. Eve you are an inspiration. I’m going to work to get more not Jewish people to speak out. Love to all of you.

“This is not a world in which I belong” sums up everything. We don’t belong. How do we now function knowing that the bottom of the lake hasn’t ever changed? I actually have no clue…
