When I graduated in '95, I joined the army. For a few years prior, the Bosnian Muslims had been taking a beating from their Greek orthodox Serbian neighbors. Genocide and ethnic cleansing like no one in Europe had seen in their lives. The UN had tried to put a stop to it with a peace keeping force, which was promptly captured by the Serbs. Only American boots on the ground ultimately saved the Bosnian Muslims and Croats from destruction. Nothing has changed since. The United Nations excels in hypocrisy and little else. It makes my blood boil to see nations like South Africa (which has been a staunch supporter of Russia before and during the Ukraine invasion) talking down to a civilized nation like Israel about human rights. I wish my country would evict the UN from their posh NYC digs, yank the billions in funding we provide (which they seem to just pass directly to the enemies of civilization) and send them on their hateful way.
