I hate war, but winning this war for us is imperative. The Iranian regime and the Islamist mindset is an existential threat to the Jews. And as a Jew, I am threatened. But I believe that we are seeing Israel rise to biblical proportions as it did during the days of old When God was truly directing her path. We are in the same war today for our lives and I believe we will win.

I’m not Jewish but am so horrified by what is happening to them and the world. I would count myself with you to say I believe we will win. Biblical proportions indeed. Israel is fighting for us all. Democracy and freedom are at stake.

So sick and tired of "thoughts and prayers" at best and "false flag" and "American and Israel started it" at worst. What's it going to take?

Hard to say. They seem to have forgotten that Islamism led to 9/11

My favorite is the "that's not who we are" comment after every Jew hating attack. Uh, apparently it is.

I was about ten years in as a convert before my first personal experience with Jew hatred. A guy came to re-surface our old bathtub. He had a chip on his shoulder from the get go but I ignored it and was pleasant. When I inspected the job I noticed that one of the large new bathroom floor tiles looked not just stained, but damaged by the chemicals. I pointed it out to him and he angrily denied it, claiming it was already there. It was so obviously a ridiculous lie that I decided I just wanted him out of my home now, so I kept quiet and gave him a check (that’s how long ago it was). Going down the wood stairs he let his cart just bump down, and I noticed it left black marks on the stairs and told him to stop. He kept going on down and out the door. I had had enough of his attitude and standing on my porch told him his company should give me a discount for the damage caused to the tile and stairs. From the walkway he angrily and loudly yelled back at me, in front of my young daughter, “Dumb Jew!”

My visceral reaction, honestly, was to laugh at the absurdity and fist pump, “Yes! I’m really in!”

My second thought was concern for my daughter, but instead of being scared by the creep, even she could see that the slur had nothing to do with us, and everything to do with him. She was just puzzled by the illogic: why was he calling me dumb when he was the one making a nonsensical statement that had nothing to do with the situation?

And that’s the antisemitism paradigm in a nutshell.

I knew that you would be publishing today with a vengeance, after Israel's barrage of fire and missles all night and the attempted bombing at Temple Israel to kill our Jewish children...Eve, you always manage to put our plight in its proper perspective. Thank you. We are so clearly living in our own history, and as we live it, you chronicle it with so much heart…Now we must get used to living with constant risk, as we have done before… but hey...we shall prevail!

Shabbat shalom for all of us in the Diaspora and for everyone in Israel. Am Israel Chai!

And hail to our non-Jewish friends and supporters too, who understand the pathology of this hatred and know that Jew-hatred is only the first step in this Islamic war against all of Western Civilization.

It's exhausting, but we carry on. Fuck the haters. They will realize they screwed up when it's too late. So it goes.

Hi Eve. A depressing article. But, sadly, you speak the truth.

I'm glad I'm old. For the the first 40 or so years of my life jew hatred was mostly shamed into a post holocaust silence.

For the last 30 years it's come roaring back and increasing exponentially across the world and every strata of society

Most people now blame Israel for the war and think we're powerfully conspiring to create oil shortages and economic hardship for our nefarious purposes. And along the way we'll kill babies and commit genocide.

Blaming the victim/aka monster taken to a whole new level !!!

Therefore we deserve everything we get.

At least this time, thanks to Israel, we'll go down fighting

“In every generation…” we read these words every year, so wanting them to be wrong, wanting to imagine that we were exempt. Now we believe.

I am too old and shaky to get a gun. And my recent visit Israel reaffirmed the safety I felt being around armed Jews.

At the end of a frustrating day at work my manager suddenly launched into an I hate Trump tirade. Then blamed Bibi for causing the war. I couldn't let that one go and said No, I am not having that one. My other colleagues and I talked about why something needed to happen and dehumanisation, but my manager could not look at me after that. Hmm

Sounds like you need to talk to HR about your boss

I think I'd be outnumbered

LOL so true, making political comments at all should be out of bounds for a boss to a subordinate (hostile work environment etc..) but sadly you only see it get enforced with certain politics and not other politics. Sorry.

What doesn't kill us makes us stronger! Hundreds of years of oppression and isolation in Europe and then the creation of modern Israel has forged an amazing national character. Israel will be victorious, and so will be we in diaspora. We shall overcome.

Be vigillant, be prepared and be proud.

I believe that within 25 years, 90% of the diaspora will move to Eretz Yisrael. In my many visits to Israel, I have felt safer walking the streets of Tel Aviv at midnight than I feel walking the streets of NYC at noon. And now it’s even worse as NY’s anti-semitic mayor invites terrorists into the Gracie Mansion.

And it will be interesting as much of the world’s brain-power will be centered in the Jewish Nation. All of the innovations and discoveries that leap from the Jewish minds like Zuckerberg, Sergey Brin & Larry Page, Jan Koum, Marc Benioff, Sam Altman, Susan Wojcicki, Gil Shwed, etc, etc will benefit Israel first, then the rest of the world.

Thanks Eve. We’re all thinking what you articulated. My non-Jewish wife keeps telling me that the people who try to justify October 7th are not antisemitic

For the non-Jewish crowd, please take heed of Eve Barlow's warning. Wherever you are, you need to use your judgment skills. You are needed right now.

I recognize the echo of historical antisemitism that animates Eve's post, and I see how depressingly that can be framed.

But I think it's important to separate violence against us before and after the start of Epic Fury. Before this war the violence was about wiping out a passive Jewish population;atoin, whereas now the violence is hopefully the last gasp of a radical regime as it confronts its biblical fate. Of course we expect our enemy to fight back when we attack them, but that is far different and in my view far less depressing than the world before, when we did nothing and were attacked by an enemy bent on our elimination.

The same applies to these attacks against jews by Iranian jihadi sleepers. The 'why now' answer is obvious, they are facing elimination. You're most likely to get stung when eliminating a wasp nest but that doesn't mean you don't put on protective gear and eliminate it.

So yes it is depressing living in a world that generationally returns to jew hatred, but we are now engaged in eliminating one of the main fonts of that hatred, that has acted on its putrid world view of nearly half a century. Success may buy us decades of safety. And in any case we have no other choice.
