We needed that LOL.
Some people say that they’re not the same since October 7. I am the same. I’m just more me. I’m more in your face, I give less fucks, and I’m more certain about what I welcome in my life and what I don’t. I become more myself every day now.
This weekend someone I blocked faster than lightning who had “works for the New York Times” in their bio sent a mob after me. She started by saying that “this is what’s wrong with people like Eve.” The reason I don’t take “people like Eve” comments personally is because “people like Eve” = The Jews. Also – join the back of the line, Hamasshole.
Since 2015 I have publicly advocated against antisemitism. Since 2015 I have been an emblem of a Jew with teeth, the Bear Jew, the Jew who refuses to be crushed by the ideologues who demand we denounce the nation that we fought for, that is ours to declare. Since 2015, I have been the test, the canary in the coal mine, the provocateur that will show you who in your life is fundamentally good and who is evil. Since 2015, I have been the cost, the nag, the source of guilt, the elephant in the room, the demand that you say it with your chest that I have a right to survive. I am proud to be the worst or best thing that ever happened to you. The Jewish way.
(Sidenote: there is a building trend on Instagram where people use the hashtag #WhatEveSaid, and I welcome this trend. This trend has my full approval. I’ve been praying for this trend my whole life. Please continue to use it as a manifest my Chanukah wishes to come true.)
This weekend has been a rollercoaster as more hostages were released and reunited with families while the world enjoyed ridiculing and dehumanizing their precious souls. A picture of young boy Ohad eating his favorite meal - a schnitzel - became something for evil low-lives online to bully. How tall you freaks must be that you need to make fun of a child who has just spent 50 days in captivity in the tunnels of hell while he eats his favorite fast food.
Then came the conversation around Irish-Israeli hostage Emily Hand, whose father Thomas initially understood that his daughter was dead only to find out later that she was taken hostage. This is the image we’ve all been waiting for.
But not the Prime Minister of Ireland, who is unhinged, to say the least.
Emily wasn’t "lost” and she wasn’t “found”. Emily wasn’t some piece of luggage that fell off a conveyor belt on an international flight to Gaza. No. Emily was abducted by a raping death cult and held against her will in the subterranean hole of Hamas HQ. Ireland still competing for most antisemitic country in Europe, I see.
And then we had the brigade of evil commentators who watched Hamas’s propaganda handover videos where they forced the hostages to smile and wave at cameras one last time, and somehow claimed that the hostages were grateful for Hamas’s, uh, hospitality? Are you insane? Don’t answer that. Yes clearly they had the holiday of a lifetime for two months. They don’t want to leave but life must go on! All good things come to an end, etc. Jesus H Christ.
And apparently it’s completely normal to apply a completely factually baseless and detached narrative onto images of humans who have just survived 50 days of unspeakable agony. It’s absolutely beyond comprehension. And these are supposed to be the good guys? Mocking and degrading people who have already survived the deepest traumas imaginable? Or rather – unimaginable? Isn’t there something else you can do for fun? Are drugs that expensive now? Can’t you take a pill and go to a club? Or I don’t know… Jenga?
On Saturday morning Hamas violated the ceasefire. It was not the first time. This time they violated it by delaying the release of hostages. Did you see the protest about it? I must be looking at the wrong sources. Anyone? Link? They also separated mothers from their kids upon returning the children. Absolute bastards.
And as we celebrate the return of our children and grandmothers, Hamas celebrate the return of their terrorists and attempted murderers. Footage was released of the newly released teenage boy militants running straight into the streets of Gaza, donning their Jihadi garb, and praising Hamas, immediately frothing at the mouth to get back to the task of killing Jews. Whoop-de-doo.
And yet this morning I woke up to five out of six CNN headlines all pro-Hamas. And word that there’s an open letter going around Australia (also becoming a Top Antisemitic Nation 2023) aided by “human rights lawyers” to help the press claw back MORE power to spread Hamas lies. I quote from the open letter:
Staff shared frustrations over the broadcaster’s unwillingness to use terms including “invasion”, “occupation”, “genocide”, “apartheid” and “ethnic cleansing” regarding Israeli government policy and allegations made by human rights groups. The broadcaster’s managing director, David Anderson, said while taking talkback calls on ABC Melbourne last week that it wasn’t the ABC’s place to use such terms.
The open letter has asked that historical context of the conflict between Israel and Palestine is provided when referencing the October 7 attack.
“The conflict did not start on October 7, and it is the media’s responsibility to ensure audiences are fully informed,” it reads.
Ah yes the historical context for October 7. Well I’m reading that these people are upset that the Holocaust didn’t work. Bunch of Nazis.
To quote Matthew Nouriel in response to this call for context around October 7:
“This didn’t start on October 7, it started 75 years ago” Correct. 75 years ago the area now known as Israel and the Palestinian Territories was handed over to the UN by the British occupiers. The UN took a vote and the majority were in favor of a “two state solution”. Israel accepted, the Arabs did not. Israel declared themselves a state and the Arabs waged a genocidal war. The Arabs Lost that war. They have rejected any two state solution since and have maintained the genocidal notion of ethnically cleansing the land of Jews “from the river to the sea”. The ball has always been in their court, but they don’t want to play with Jews. Israel has always been and will always be the Jewish homeland — the minute they accept that this all ends. But this has never really been about land for them, it’s about pan-Arabism and Islamic supremacy.
Indeed, there is your context. Israel exists. You’re still mad about it. Go to hell.
Here is CNN’s main page today:
Hamas freed the hostages, didn’t you know? Good Hamas. Humanitarian Hamas. Hamas the great lions of the Middle East. This is antisemitism in the mainstream media in a nutshell. If a baby was kidnapped and the FBI found the baby we would say the baby was freed by the FBI. This is the equivalent of saying the baby was freed by the kidnapper.
Meanwhile my nightmares are haunted by the footage I witnessed from October 7 and the understanding of the hatred that is being championed and excused away and minimized by “ordinary good people” in the streets of western countries. Can you imagine what it feels like? I don’t know if they can.
In far better news 105,000 people showed up for the march against antisemitism in London today. Not a single arrest. Not a single racist banner. Not a single call for genocide. Not a single Hamas headband. Not a single chant for intafada. Not a single masked face. They weren’t all Jewish people in the streets. There were non-Jews too, Iranians and - would you believe it - Palestinians. This is the true face of Britain:
Proud to call these two heroes my friends. They are people like me. And this picture is haunting the dreams of all the wrong people who are not like me, or any of us. Thank fuck.
Thanks Eve, I had a 2 minute scroll through Twitter and lost my shit today. I loved that video of you holding the Star and asking why people are looking at you. Very funny. I haven’t even kind of thought of wearing any religious symbol since my Bar Mitzvah but fuck it, I’m off to get me one. I can let it hang right between my hairy chest. Fuck em all.
